Pfff, it seems so easy to you ...
Really impressive texture, and nice model.

still testing some shaders.
Decided to use different layers with blended mats instead of one single texture.
It was pretty tuff to set up, but once you get it, you find it is extremly powerfull.
So there is, in order :
the wood, the painting, gold, and bronze (not visible in that image).
(what bothers me a little is that the blend map for the golden part is a 10% grey, so the gold should be much less visible... will have to investigate).

Though not finished yet, the texture on the face will look somehow like this : lots of scratchs to see the wood underneath (surely even more than on that image), and a face almost white like those japanese dolls.
The rest of the body is almost done.

Finally I can move on to the "piece de resistance" : the rest of the scene.

@kosmo : No. But I saw one once.

awesome texturing! how big/what resolution are your image maps? are you using photo manipulation or are you painting them?

textures are approximatively 2000x2000 px each.
they are both painted and mixed with different samples from pictures.
For instance, the eye are from a picasso painting. The cracks of the wood are from pictures of rusty metals, etc...

Now I'm trying to render the whole puppet, but I'm getting billions of memory errors.... *sob*
(edit : memory errors happened because I was stupid. just had to tweak the multires options of blender. Works fine now)
