It looks great, but a bit playful....
Maybe, physical correctness is a bit more serious...

But actually, I love playful things :D

@cire: Can you share the vector files for your logos. I'm trying to do some renders with them. Cheers :D

I actually do like this one (indigo_sm.jpg) a bit, I'm just not sure it works for indigo. If indigo were a restaurant or a toy company or a Pixar film or something, I'd be all for it, but it doesn't seem to line up conceptually with indigo as it's been presented up to this point. The logo and font choice are much better than your other two versions, but perhaps a bit playful (as Kram mentioned).

On the other hand, I really don't see any harm in going that direction. It looks weird on the face of it because we're all used to what we've seen up to this point, but do we have to have a "serious" logo just because we're working with a realistic renderer? "Playful" does not in any way equate to "unprofessional" or "poorly done," and really the constraints on how we "brand" indigo are pretty minimal. I'd be interested to see some variations on this theme from you.

Thoughts on this, anyone?

My thoughts on that are - what an official sounding comment. I feel like I'm in a board meeting.

And I agree with what you say, too. There really are no restrictions on the design... but, obviously, it has to "say" indigo. Not literally. Metaphorically.

Ok, here they are. The ZIP file contains all three logo versions in AI, EPS & SVG formats. If anyone has any problems with these files , let me know.

radiance wrote:the wavy one does have some maxwellesque design,
so probably ditch that
It also looks like a regular old "approximately equal to" sign. Maybe we're approximately equal to Maxwell or something, but I'd still ditch it.

:D
radiance wrote:i think we should get rid of the 'renderer' in the logo as it's stupid. especially to non-technical people.
I agree with you here, even though I was just suggesting the opposite a few posts back. We don't need it.
radiance wrote:these logo's are just a contour, and are meant to be displayed with a bitmap, preferably an indigo renderer as the contents as in the image with the 3 wide logos.
Please don't. :(
radiance wrote:We are going to have to settle this pretty soon as i WILL need the new logo soon for the new website.
Sorry, I'm not really keeping up with this. Didn't we just get a new website? Or do you mean this one? In either case, I'd really much rather take some time and get things right -- it's not like we're working against a hard launch deadline or anything.

V3.0 will finally have the MatDB included, right?
:D
I like your logos, but the only difference is the colour.

The circular-i is quite important...
what's with the ring on the left of the logo?
Many put it in the logo, may don't.
Is it important or not?

I still like the playful one. It actually has a more stylish font :D
Maybe a combination?

How about a rendered logo?

This is 8 hours rendering so far (much higher original res)
