How to measure DoF? - Blender

Post by HallDude » Thu Mar 08, 2007 9:54 pm

How do you measure the distance from the camera to the object in focus accurately?

In recent exporters, next to "focus distance" you've got three buttons :

* S : distance from camera to selected object
* C : distance from camera to cursor
* A : automatic

That's it !

Also in Blender 2.43 if your using that version, under the editing tab for the camera...there is a button you can use next to the dof setting, it will draw a line in the 3d view and show where the dof setting is at focus.

I don't remember if this was in 2.42 I have not used it in awhile.

it was under 2.41 and 2.42 but only when using Yafray. It's only since the defocus node was introduced in 2.43 that it's been accessable when using the internal renderer. And I believe it's only 2.43 that works with the exporter script "Blendigo" too.

Before new Version, blender didn't have a DoF in standard Blender Internal...

Is it actual DOF or is Blender doing some kind of post-process?

It is actual, post-processed, in the blender compositor, DoF! :P

yes, it's just a new node.
To use it, you have to set DoF.
Otherwise, it wont effect the render at all.
