Extreeemly slow rendering.

Post by The_MorMor » Sun Mar 04, 2007 5:45 am

hi i am having a really annoying problem.
Indigo just renders to slow, something is wrong. It renders at like 1000 mutations per second and right now something is seriously wrong... right now it renders at 17 mutations per second....

The file im rendering is not like über complex the xml file is at 125mb but i have done bigger files.

It also takes forever to to start the renderer it takes like 20 min to just create all the trees and i allso get this error message on some of the trees where it says that it couldn't find the chased file and that it has to rebuild the tree.

And then when it starts to render for the first like 5 minutes it dosnt render anything at all. its just blank and it don't do any mutations at all.

im running a AMDxp2400 with windows XP and 512mb of ram.
Modelling and all of that is done ion blender 2.43.

I used to have like 20000 mutations per second before. I just don't have any idea what the problem might be.

nope Sweden :P

But the only thing i have going on at the same time is firefox, foobar and msn.
but that shouldn't fuck it up that much.

And what do you mean by "Again". Have you had this problem a lot with 0.6 ?

You may have a paging problem...
If the indigo process (including scene data) can't fit in main memory (RAM), then it will use the hard disk as virtual memory, which is SLOW.
Take a look at the task manager and see how much free physical RAM u have while rendering.
