The question is this: is possible to obtain realistic trees mapping in UV coordinates a photo with alpha channel on a transparent plane? Indigo can use the alpha channel (justo for the transparency).( I think no)
The other was a question about rendering time: how many time for render with Indigo?

Io penso di no;quanto tempo per renderizzare quel'immagine?

sorry, missed your question.
i used OBAN (plugin for c4d). Afaik someone made it working for max too (google for MOBAN).
