I changed the proxy only a little bit, so that some faces with more than 4 edges have only (excactly) 4 edges and after this, artisan generates a quad mesh. (So the general problem still remains...)

I startet a field test with a statistically significant amount of beer at home (safety first!) and with the help of this discussion I was able to produce some instances... now the thirst is back 8)
