Environment map

Post by Pandekage » Sun May 20, 2012 4:27 am

Hey again,

Not sure what happened, but before I was able to (in Render settings) click on the Environment tab and there would be a (...) button to browse for an environment map. This would work great. However, now instead, in place of a browse function, there's a drop down menu to select a material, NOT an environment map. I have no idea how this works. Any idea how I can select an environment map instead?

Hey Pandekage, what exporter are you using?
If it is Blendigo, things changed lately: add a hemi lamp to your scene, and select your map in the object's setting of your lamp.

It's SKIndigo. Would that be the same process? In which case, how would I add a hemi lamp?

Thanks for the help.

Hello,

Once "Environment " is selected in the render settings, the envmap is defined via a material in the skindigo material editor. It is called "Indigo Background" by default if I remember right. Just adjust it like a classical emitter (set a blackbody emission base, and use your exr texture as the emission). Don't forget to set the light layer to something other than "off"

There is a '..' button to browse for the Env map if you are using the latest SkIndigo version. After choosing the file, SkIndigo will set up a new 'EnvironmentMap' material with default settings.
