Eizo Foris FS2331

Post by CoolColJ » Thu Feb 17, 2011 1:01 am

I picked one of these up, pretty happy with it. Finally an LCD that can almost match my Sony G520 and Lacie Electron Blue IV trintron CRT for black levels and contrast :D
3000:1 static contrats ratio
My CRTs are all calibrated and the Eizo matched them straight out of the box with brightness set at 50. Superb colours and detail, but I now have to get used to the hard edged look of an LCD.

Turning on true type helped and increasing the dpi by 10%

No dead pixels, back light bleed or other nonsense, but there is some gamma shifting when you move your head around and in the corners.
With overdrive on I can't notice any ghosting and lag vs my CRTs, with games and movies, but there is ghosting when you move text around, but mouse movement looks the same as my CRTs

Each input can have it's own colour setting = 2xHDMI, DVI and VGA
PS3 looks superb via HDMI!

Just wished it was larger, 25-27 inch at the same resolution would have much bigger letters
And while it's wider, it doesn't have as much vertical size as my CRT monitors

We have aquired an Eizo Coloredge CG234W last year. I cannot compare to a CRT, but the results are really impressive, especially the grey neutrality.

Lacie Electron Blue IV 22inch Trinitron CRT on the left, my Eizo Foris Fs2331 23 inch 16:9 LCD on the right.
Not many LCD can go toe to toe with a high end CRT on black levels and contrast :)

The Lacie is calibrated the Eizo was not, and they match
