Black Water (blendigo)
Black Water (blendigo)
Hi guys!
I'm having a issue with Indigo rendering, my water is black!!!
I already tried almost all. In yafray my water is fine, but in Indigo my water is black.
Any idea?
Thanks
Cris

1. Check the normals of your water object.
2. Is the water object volume or a plane? It should be a volume filling the space water normally would and made slightly larger than it's container so that it intersects with the pool walls/floor.

Yeah check normals, and the volume of your water. because anything thats transparent and with a different ior than air without any volume has a chance of doing that.WytRaven wrote:1. Check the normals of your water object.

Not so good yet...
My water isn't transparent, I can't see the pool's tiles.
Material configuration:
Indigo mat: SPECULAR
Spec type: glossy transparent
Exponent: 100
IOR 1.330
I also tried to reduce the height of the water (volume) but didn't work.

to my naive understanding, glossy transparent is the problem: water is not glossy I think.
why don't you use the water in the material database?

Hi Psuchotron80!
Thank you!
How do I use a .igm file?
What I did was put the material as "specular" and adjust the RGB values of "absorption" and "scattering" (following your URL)
But my water still not transparent. The water looks like a mirror.
Sorry guys, but Indigo is very new to me.
Thank you!

The way you use an .igm is to choose "External" mat type and link to the file. you must also make sure the name of the material matches the name specified inside the file or else it wont find it.
So just open the .igm in notepad and check that the name of it is and then use that in blender.
