indigo is not responding...

Post by cheese on toast2 » Sat May 31, 2008 3:58 am

hi folks

i once again have a problem with indigo..

whenever i try to render anything, it gets the the stage where it checks for UV maps and it says

0 UV maps found..
0 UV maps found..
0 UV maps found..
0 UV maps found..
0 UV maps found.. etc, etc
it keeps doing this for a while, as indigo normally does, but very soon the writing starts to flicker then dissapears completly, then indigo stops responding and stays like it until i have to force it to quit.

im running it under wine on mandriva linux 2008 using the tutorial by joe giampaoli.

is this an OS based problem? and if so, is it unsolvable?

any replies are very much appreciated :)

Does the same thing happen when you try wine indigo_console with the same scene?

...

You're running, from the terminal, "wine indigo.exe somescene.igs" now, correct?

Instead, run "wine indigo_console.exe somescene.igs" - which will run on the termnial rather than create a window.

oh right, i see. thanks :) so how do i do that using blendigo? coz i open indigo by using the 'render scene' button in blendigo.

EDIT: btw, i tried doing what u said to try it out and i gbot this message:
wine: could not load L"C:\\windows\\system32\\indigo_console.exe": Module not found. is there an extra thing i need to download for this to work?

Sorry didn't realize you were simply using blendigo to launch indigo in wine.:)

To run indigo_console, you'll need to cd to the indigo directory, THEN "wine indigo_console.exe" and so on.

Well that's good, but it doesn't solve your problem really - why is the GUI version crashing but the console version not?

What version of Wine and what distro are you using?

well, i looked it up in the tutorial by joe giampaoli to see if there was naything about it in there and it says that it seems to happen when rendering large scenes under wine and his solution to the problem is the same as yours, so i guess thats the only 'solution'..
i dont mind using the console, it works fine, oo and my render has just finished. yay! lol
I'll post it in the new uploads gallery in a bit
