Instancing?

Can somebody tell me how Instancing works in Blendigo and how I can realize proxy Instancing?
Intel Pentium 4, 512MB Ram, Nvidia Riva TNT2 Ultra

Instancing?

The correct Blender term for an instance is "Linked Copy"
With an object selected use key combination ALT-D.
A regular copy is SHIFT-D.

Unfortunately the Array modifier does not create instances but copies.
