blender material textures

Post by Enj » Tue Nov 04, 2008 3:30 pm

hi

how is it that i can reproduce the materials in indigo exactly like in blender?

i cannot work out how to reproduce any material that has a texture (such as clouds, noise, etc) in indigo.

for example, if i have a material with colour, clouds texture, an possibly an image texture - how can i reproduce this using indigo?

appreciate any help

To my knowldge you can't use blender's procedural textures in indigo. Although that got fixed by adding shaders?

If you know how, and have only got a few models with procedural materials, there's always the alternative of unwrapping and baking the textures. I wouldn't recommend this if you've got more than, say three models however as you've got to have a new material for each different model/baked texture.

this is something i did as my first project in blender a while ago - actually the only project i ever done, just used blender for a few months and stopped. Now i want to get back to it, and would like to turn this into an indigo render (because i want to learn indigo :) .. ).

quite a few models with procedural textures.. pretty much all infact.

Well, if you can texture something using an image, do it. The only thing in this scene that looks like it could be tricky is that marble bowl in the middle, which I suggest you bake.

Look at each object and ask yourself whether you have to use procedurals for it and you'll probably find that you only have to bake one or two textures.
