Most of the parameters where already discussed in a huge thread.
The problem isn't the "what do they do" but the "what's the ideal range for them" - because Indigo changes it's ideal behaviour from release to release a bit. (Whenever there is a bugfix or speedup...)
You need to re-figure that out for every release...
Edit: Oh, you meant just about tonemapping.
Well, that's Trial&Error for most, anyway. Often also via saving an igi and editing the tonemapping in Violet afterwards

Latest update. Added lights in the tunnel. Added a building on the other side of the same tunnel. Changed camera angle.
I'm very unhappy about how the lighting of the scene turned out to be. But due to extremely long render times I have been unable to fix it. Well my biggest problem is with the windows on the adjacent building. They...well I would've liked them to have fuzzier edges and be a little whiter without illuminating the building too much.
