Smartden To do list +1 request

Post by neepneep » Sun Apr 06, 2008 7:15 am

Would it be possible to have Blendigo automatically synchronize (realtime if possible) it's material settings with Blender's material settings without having to press 'conv' (as well as also reading more of the settings) :?:

The reason being, it is really nice and useful to be able to control materials in the IPO editor and this is a hassle to export in blendigo since it is not automatic and 'conv' must be pressed for every frame. Also, not many values are converted at the moment.

It would be nice to add more Indigo-specific keys into the editor if that were possible :D But I am guessing that may not be very easy to do....so maybe it would be easier to associate all possible values of blendigo to a similar key that is already in the editor - http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Refer ... o#Material - some useful values would be exponent, transparent & reflective IOR, bump settings, camera settings, tonemapping settings, and so on and so on....

 :D

That might not be a good idea, neepneep: You can't translate the materials 1:1, so you'd need to completely tweak the materials again... Maybe a tick in one of the tabs, which is turned off by default, would work, though :)

As the two systems aren't perfectly matching each other, some values can't ever be modified.... - though maybe there could be a way to directly connect the Indigo-settings to the IPO curves, instead of the blender settings :)

Building a version of Blender itself with modified code that used [only] all of the Indigo material settings would be great. Not likely to happen though. :)

I agree with Kram, synchronising Blendigo with the Blender mats automatically would be a terrible idea from where I stand. I only use Blendigo for my materials definition, but I colour-code my mats in Blender to improve visibility of the scene in the viewport. I don't want these colours to interfere in my Indigo mats.

I think it would be a real shame to not take advantage of IPO curves in Blendigo - how about at least having the option to sync between materials with a checkbox then ? By default there would not be any synchronizing, but if checked then it would allow it.

edit: doh ! it's been working this whole time :D I didn't realize that I had to press "ray transp" in the blender material editor!

It would be cool to have a "reset" option in blendigo.
Or something to reset only the paths.

reset paths
reset materials
reset all

or a reset current tab, reset camera if camera tab selected etc...

a render region option would also be great .

edit :

render region with border or preview(shift-p) perhaps.

why reset paths? what are you doing that you need to 'reset' them - do you mean clear perhaps? or disable...

I did something like that in one of my experiments.. see + in pic

I havent looked recently but I think smartden already does region render via shift B.

edit: btw I am inclined to agree with those advocating just simple conversions - perhaps when Blender 2.5 arrives we would be in a better position to integrate something 8)

I meant that when you reset, the file is again accorded to blender materials setting ...

Like it is when open the srcipt for the first time, you see ?

blendigo is really well done, excellent ! Works fine .
Thx smartden.

A reset, or back to defaults settings, would be cool and useful I think.

Especially when opening a scene that has already been seen by the script.
