heya guys
just been experimenting with knotplot and importing the .stl's into blender. i convert the stl to mesh and then attempt to set the mesh smooth... nothing. i also tried subsurfing it but the mesh just "fragments". not sure if there is anyway to get the output of a smooth knot but if there is can u please tell me how. if needs be i can post some screenies...

Either edgesplit is on or the faces aren't linked...
Try to press [W]->remove doubles in Edit Mode...
Then there should be a message xxx Verticles removed.
Then try set smooth again.
