Linear Workflow

This is quite a buzzword in the industry, does it have any relevance regarding indigo?

Indigo has always had a linear workflow, I think.

it doesnt necessarily have to do with tonemapping i dont think. i believe its the way colors and textures are handles internally so that when they are gamma corrected on the way out (tonemapped n such) the colors will come out true to the input.

i think it has to do with the light propagation: the colors and textures are inverse gamma corrected on the way in which leads to light falloffs and such being much smoother and more realistic.

im not an expert on these things, though ive dabbled.

Oh, oops. I took someone else's word but the topic is way more complex than I suspected, thank you for the link StompingTom.

Reverse gamma correction is here since around Indigo 0.7 I think. I never tried to change the value for something different than 2.2
