Up axis problems..

Post by arneoog » Sun Oct 29, 2006 11:57 pm

Indigo uses the Z axis as the up axis.. ..Well, Maya uses Y as up..
You may see the problem, hehe..

We haven't managed to make a succsessfull "translator" for Maya To Indigo yet.
Nick, do you have any suggestions? is it possible to make a switch for this in Indigo?
It's a really stupid problem, because the Sun in SunLight scenes is Z-up, while the objects are Y-up..

Help? :?

You probably want to run all your coordinates thru a rotation matrix that transforms vectors pointing towards the y axis to towards the z axis.

yeah, I know..
But that's alot easyer said than done :?

Is there any of the other export makers who had to make this Y to Z rotator?
If it is, how did you make it?

I want to make SunLight scenes :)

hi arneoog,
blender us Z as up-axis like indigo :wink:
I think you have just to flip Y and Z value ?!?
ex: <1 2 3> -> <1 3 2> ???

the meshes are simple to rotate just use >1 0 0 0 0 1 0 -1 0< instead of >1 0 0 0 0 1 0 0 1< :)

But the camera... :? The pos, Up and forward have to be correct, and that's hard :(
