tools for network rendering?

Post by richie » Mon Apr 02, 2007 2:52 am

hi!
about network rendering, is there a way to control several machines from only one. I would want to do everything from my computer(start and stop rendering, and start again another one etc...), without having to move from my room, other computers are on other rooms.
thx.

I use RealVNC for remote desktop access and Hamachi to connect more slaves from outside my home network.

I was planning on trying to get together some small software that could do this - all the child renderers talk to the parent central machine to tell you they are alive. Then the parent renderer can tell them a shared file location thru UNC, and to launch or to kill the current render.

WOuldn't be too difficult, just take some time to get together, gotta grab my network code again...

sounds like more than one of us are working to tackle this problem.

i've got something in the works for my own purposes so far - i've been doing the RDP thing for a while, but as I add computers, it's a pain.

I plan on bridging everything straight from blendigo(it would work from any exporters that automatically invoke indigo) - my server box is seperate from my modeling/porn/games box :)
