Anyone write resume feature tutorial?

Post by HallDude » Sun Mar 11, 2007 12:14 pm

Can anyone tell me how to make use of the resume feature in 0.7?

Either just step by step here, or make an actual tutorial.
I'm sure many "people" like me would like to know.

To be able to resume a render:

Open up inifile.txt inside indigo dir.
Edit the line that says "save_igi" "false"
to
"save_igi" "true"

Then when you render, besides the normal PNG file in RENDERS directory you will have a file with .igi extension

When you stop a render and want to resume you have to do this...

indigo yourxmlfile.xml -r renders/theigifile.igi

That easy

By the way, igi files are incremental, so if you stop again and want to resume again, use the latest igi file, then you can delete the older one, takes a shitload of disk space....

In my case I found that using full paths for the 3 terms of the command (indigo.exe, scene.xml and image.igi) was more secure... I mean afaik resume would fail if I don't use full path, that may help some folks...

Code: Select all

C:\Progs\3d\indigo\indigo_07_test5\indigo.exe -r C:\Progs\3d\indigo\indigo_07_test5\renders\im1172610055.igi C:\work\3d\test\renderData\3dnoiz00_Indigo.xml
Looks messy but that's the secure way I think.

ah, um.. i actually said it would be great before actually trying it.
I checked my initile.ini file in the 07test 2 (i think) dir, but it didnt have that option.

Anything i'm missing?
