GPU vs CPU

HI

To what extent is the advantage of a percentage rendering GPU than CPU usage?
Mac Mini 2011 - 2,3 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 - Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 Mb.
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB - MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Quite old values, but at least some numbers for you: http://www.indigorenderer.com/content/i ... -rendering

I just did a test yesterday based on 30 seconds of rendering time.

This is really rough as I just used a small scene I threw together.

Specs, Intel 4790K 4.0 GHz, GTX 980 Ti, 32 gigs of RAM.

Bidirectional MTL on CPU for 30 seconds, 32 samples per pixel
CPU OpenCL 30 seconds: 31 spp
GPU OpenCL 30 Seconds: 70 spp
GPU CUDA 30 seconds: 72 spp

I know that was super crude, but I've tested this on multiple scenes and even though the numbers a re a bit different, GPU does indeed seem to be nearly twice as fast in Open CL or CUDA.

I was using Indigo RT 3.8.23
