can I render over internet with home computer?

Post by Jelko » Wed Apr 01, 2015 1:12 am

Is there a way to use my home computer (5820k, TBA gpu, 16gb ddr4) to render while at work?
All I have to play around with at work, when I should be working, is an i3 with hd graphics.. not a lot of fun.

Just wondering if this is possible and how it works?

Thanks in advance!

Via remote connection using for example TeamViewer.
Synchronize your work folder via for example dropbox and render once everthing is on the home system there.

If you are referring to network Rendering, then such a connection would be quite slow, since the Master buffer gets transfared for each update.
Simply check the master buffer size in one of your projects (renderlog) to evaluate if that would make any sense at all :)

Yeah I think I'm gonna just have to practice some patience and sync a folder for rendering at home. We do use teamviewer at my work but now that I think about it more my wife won't be too happy when she has to wait inline to use our computer when she's the only one home.
