I'm not against the addition of a few little icons on the top bar but tbh I like it the way it is.

Anyway I find yours to be like 2 maybe even 3 times too large. I mean judging by the size of it it would be roughly....half of the top banner which to me makes no sense.

Oh and...most of your icons have leftover white pixels I suggest adding some sort of white shape under them (circle?) to fix it. or maybe not completely white but, something lighter around the icons. Also black on darkgray makes me sad.

P.S. If you consider this post spam, then YOU sir have issues.

I can try scaling it down... It might have to be a bit bigger than the current top bar thought because of the icons..

I don't know why I was the first person to point this out, but the current design has a lot of empty white space. Very little of it is actually be used.

Empty space isn't exactly a problem, not enough eventually is

I agree with that. When there are too many things and not enough space it's never good.

That is hardly the case, as depending on what you're doing only 20-30% of the screen is being used. Look at how empty your screen is when you are posting something new. It's like 80% negative space.

Does the space necessarily have to be used? I think not.

No, but one of the most basic principles of graphic design is that too much white space creates a bland mood and impedes visual interest. "Simple is more" doesn't mean you can take a huge canvas and stick a dot on it and call it "elegant in it's simplicity." Not all of of the space has to be used but more of of it definitely should be. What's your major, buddy?

Mine's Fine Art and I wet myself while reading what you wrote about harmony. :)

Oh ... if you want to quote Mies van der Rohe's adage, get it right.

Bad argument, you studying in it doesn't make you automatically right in the matter. Besides I dont think a website such as this absolutely needs visual interest. It needs to be functional and easy to use, flashy & eye catching...no.

Again, more logical extremes. Not automatically right, but I dont think it's unreasonable to assert that it gives me a little more credentials/experience here.

Nothing absolutely needs to be anything. That's the wrong way to approach any sort of feedback imo ;). If anything had a definite criteria for it written in stone, there would be no competition or innovation. Everything should strive to be as good as it can be. If people were only concerned about what "absolutely" needs to happen, then Im guessing almost everything would be an eye sore. Everything from cars to televisions. Good design and visual impression are central to marketing and user experience. It's part of human nature. If any site needs visual interest the most, it would be the indigo site. Why? Because Indigo is all about art and design. Creativity is at the core of it's subject matter.

Yeah, I also took a class on graphic design history. In a nutshell, the way things look has made it possible for people to sell things and beyond that, paved the way for the development of consumer goods.
