There are really great models here in this thread (like drBouvierLeduc's one) but i agree with radiance - i think the first is the best one! yes ... the base is maxwell like but its imo simply perfect and its hard to find a better one. Altough a new base would be nice thoradiance wrote:why don't we use the base and stick the indigo "i" ball i posted as the first post in this thread on top ?
It's a little more stylized...
I guess then everybody else is just waisting their time trying something different.
I like your model radiance and it's perfect but too much Maxwell as Ono himself said. So, I thaught to try something different since it seems like everybody else gave up on this already.
Anrneoog's model is nice as well but I don't think it shows everything that should.
Keep them comming...

Since the topic is back, I'm posting here an image I did 3 weeks ago, quite conceptual I think. It's very noisy because I interrupted the render on purpose to test the resume function, wich didn't work because I set it wrong (did resume but no pixel changed after adding 1500 muxels (?)). So here it is, with noise and all:

Well, I put some real effort into this one, and this is what I came up with...

And here's the zipped xml and textures you can drop into your indigo folder if you use blendigo, should you want to use it:

Here are some really nice models meanwhile for a material test scene.
But I still prefer the first one, that "radiance" posted and not even though it's very close to the Maxwell one but just therefore!
Because the Maxwell standard material scene by Thomas Anagnostou is simply the best and most elaborate scene for this purpose I've ever seen! You will admit that without envy.
And If radiance's has some bubbles and a SSS test bar inside and also a proper environment it should be about the same quality.
In the archive from the Maxwell test scene there is also a PDF with some explanations about their scene and why it is how it is.
I would really recommend to download it and have a look at the PDF if you didn't know it yet.
Here is the link:

Edit:
To download the "Maxwell Standardized Materials Testing Scene" you have to be registered in the Maxwell Render MXM gallery first!

something i very much like in KT is that the actual selected model wil be used for the preview.
i tried to build few times my own scene and for some reason the materials in the preview scene were different to what i rendered later. transparency acted very different.
it would nice in case the indigo exporter could send also the mesh of the selected object into the preview scene with the light set up.
