Valid point i guess, but atleast give us the option to enable it. I do a lot of simpler stuff and it would save alot of time, if i didnt have to set color => exit out of window => go backOscar J wrote:It would make the color picking really slow for heavy scenes, If Indigo would have to restart the render every time you change a value.neo0. wrote:What about

Re: My suggestions
A way to check your env maps without affecting the "main view" of your scene would be nice. Perhaps dragging in the open gl + some key.
EDIT : also maybe also indicate which layer has said env map

Hi Neo, Indigo already behaves like this.neo0. wrote:What about

If you click on e.g. the colour of a diffuse material, the 'Spectrum Editor' pops up.
If you drag the colour crosshairs around in the Spectrum Editor, the render restarts in realtime with the new colour.
Or are you referring to something else?
Re: My suggestions
Yeah, if you click on the color for the material and then in the spectrum editor, you click on the color again to get to the color picker, the render doesnt update until you close the color picker. I would actually prefer the color picker to be the same window.
Indigo's color picker is maybe a little bit on the basic side and imho it's "hidden" in that newbie's might not immediately notice it's there. Sliders for RGB, HSV, and CMYK would be nice. The whole thing has kind of an outdated look and feel imho (changing the theme in indigo doesnt carry over to it btw.) I would much prefer a color wheel too because that allows us to use things such as analogous, complimentary, etc colors. I think the "basic" colors are kind of useless and i would be surprised if too many people used them. Instead it could show the color scheme of your scene or something.

Re: My suggestions
Which Indigo version are you using Neo?
Re: My suggestions
Looks to be version 3.6.28. Attached scene has a whopping 30k spp and the lenses are still noisy! Rendered with bidir/mlt!

Is there a way to adjust transparency (like what the opacity slider does in sketch up) from indigo?

neo:
A lot of the stuff you asked for is already in 3.8.16.
Please actually try the latest version before asking for stuff that already exists.

Re: My suggestions
The latest version actually refers to the latest stable release, not beta versions, or am I incorrect? If I go to the website > download then the latest version is 3.6.28

Re: My suggestions
My mistake. Lots of cool stuff! Cant wait to install! Have you guys ever considered an automatic updater? If people wanted to get old releases they could still be here but it would make things easier for those of us who only only care about updating to the latest version. There is the possibility of updates being downloaded as "patches" instead of whole new releases. Just an idea
Anyway, switched my file over to the new version! Rendering maybe a tiny bit faster but not as much as i expected. Anyway i have mixed feelings about to changes to the ui to be honest. I like the new changes to the color picker i like that it now shows the selected color and it now updates quickly! However, it just feels kind of busy and im not quite sure why the light layers color picker is different than it. Im not sue what x, y, z are in the light layers either. I can only surmise that they are somehow related to 3d coordinates, but im not very technically inclined and maybe im the only one, but imho indigo should default to rgb since i feel like i feel like more people are gonna be familiar with it. CMYK and RGB do have different gamuts and this should be reflected when you chose one or the other
Im a big fan of the "wheel" design as it allows you to apply color theory. xD
Godzilla was a fantastic designer, he could probably come up with something but i havent seen him here in years ill throw my design in

Re: My suggestions
This should be relatively easy to fix. I think a lot of newbies might be kind of confused as to changing the render resolution. I think it would be more intuitive if indigo would let us change the resolution mid render and then automatically restarted it like every other thing we can do. I know im kind of splitting hairs here, but i think it would be more intuitive than letting people figure out that that they have to first stop the render.
EDIT : What about a hybrid rendering mode that uses mlt or something to clear up difficult areas.
Wait why the hell is there some little picture of a dog where the pic i posted used to be?
EDIT 2: Materials previews in indigo would be cool. Maybe we could tell indigo to use our cpu for the "main" render and our gpu for said preview or vice versa if we wanted.
Being able to simply drag a material from the database window in indigo onto an object to add it?
An undo button? I mean, come on this is just so basic..

How about some sliders for hue/saturation/value in the texture editor..

Re: My suggestions
this is one I've recently thought would be a nice addition. something like the color adjustment sliders for light layers, but applied to a texture, to allow for fine-tuning within the scene. texture and material colors change so much depending on your light set-up and it would be nice to have some control in that regard.neo0. wrote:How about some sliders for hue/saturation/value in the texture editor..

Bumping old thread.
I know the team is super busy with the gpu stuff but what about a revamped camera menu ? Right now the old way to get to it is in the node editor and its kind of easy to miss it. Could be a little more hmm i dont know elegant maybe? Entering values for the aperture seems a little.. i dont know i would prefer to have something like a graphic ui for doing this. Does anyone else feel the same?

Friendlier UI is always welcomed! But I love putting in the numbers, since I am already familiar with the technical aspects of it from the real camera.
