yeah but MLT has a bunch of colored patches, or is it just because it didn't render long enough?pixie wrote:Nor on MLT for that matterBorgleader wrote:No black areas on the path tracing one but....fireflies, and lots of 'em

I hate this kinds of topics, it always ends in arguing
I am planning to buy a maxwell 2 edu lisence next month btw
Maybe you should optimize the scenes for each render, i defently feel that lux did suffer from automatic conversion, i like the pt renders better than MLT since i feel that MLT renders does loose contrast.
Keep on testing

I could but only for indigo since I don't possess the expertize for the other render enginesStromberg wrote:I hate this kinds of topics, it always ends in arguing

One thing this tests made me change was the view on PT, I think I can live well without the caustics now

Interesting comparison!
The image of Lux looks a bit strange.
Which version and settings did you use?

Re: Indigo 2 vs Maxwell 2 vs Lux
To be honest, Maxwell 2 looks a tad bit more realistic to me. Nothing major, they both look fantastic, but in the Maxwell renders, the way the sun enters the room (the bright spots from the windows) looks a little closer to real life. I, as well, have also encountered black patches when using indigo..
Then again, Indigo is much, much easier to learn then Maxwell. I took one look at a screen shot of maxwell before deciding that I'de stick with indigo.

There is another MLT render on the first page(SunSky2_frame0.png), the best (richest) one imo.Borgleader wrote:yeah but MLT has a bunch of colored patches, or is it just because it didn't render long enough?pixie wrote:Nor on MLT for that matterBorgleader wrote:No black areas on the path tracing one but....fireflies, and lots of 'em
neo0., can we quote that ? The argument has some strength coming from youneo0. wrote:Then again, Indigo is much, much easier to learn then Maxwell

Now that I got a good night's rest, the indigo one looks more realistic to me now..
You're absolutely right, Ctzn... I have a pretty low tolerence for learning curves.. The most complicated app I ever learned was modo 401..
