SSS lighting: Indigo vs. Famous Commercial Unbiased Renderer
This maybe a simple tonemapping issue... if you use Reinhard TM, you can set what ever you wan't for your lightning, and it will look "the same".ave wrote:BTW, there is another point which I forgot: with Indigo I set the emitter to 500 W, 14% efficency and it worked properly.
With Mxl I had to increase efficency to 100% to see some significant light (and it's still too low).
Use linear or camera tonemapping, and you'll need to adjust your camera settings also for a "perfect" picture!
I would relay encourage you to upload the scene, so some maxwell user can have a look if there is maybe something wrong...

excuse me, but i really cant imagine, that there are such great differences between these 2 render-engines. there will be some and also some big differences. but this is too heavy
i dont know the reason of that and i really hope and think indigo is on the same level or even better than the M-thing, but im very surprised about the weak performence of the comercial thing

There already where other tests... Indeed, usually Maxwell is better than here.
Usually, the results are a tad better for Indigo though: Maxwell in common is a bit faster at denoise but therefore never gets totally crisp. Also shadows and reflections are better in Indigo.
But THAT indeed is too bad xD
I'm not sure about Maxwell 1.7... They say it's way faster but I didn't see any tests with it... (or ist that actually a test with this version? O.o)
