I have done a few little experiments with skin shaders, basically I use a blend of a phong with a glossy transparent(with sss). http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/fo ... php?t=3252

The Phong has the bump and texture on it and has a exponent of 30 and a ior of 1.4. The sss is a ior 1.1, gain 10 and 0, 0.297, 0.261 (rgb) ( or in indigo terms 0, 2.97, 2.61 ). And a blend facter of 0.3 (phong/sss). I have found you can play a bit with the colour of the sss material to give either a darker or a pinker skin.

They are only rough figures and I don't claim that they are accurate, but with a decent texture it looks ok. But it gives you something to start with..Oh you also need to desaturate your texture a bit or it the skin looks really red.

I'll ad some feathers now!

Abaut the shader here:

If someone get's a black image than play with precedence on the sss material.

Very nice lar111!

Cheers,

Aleksander

Alex: This image suggested you've solved the displacement problem? Right? Wrong?

Nope, It's a 52 MB obj file exported form ZB.
I'm not trying to salve that problem at all.
I rather develope my knowledge about some
good topology for now. :?

Hello,

This is my first post here! :D

I use and experiment with Indigorender since some months and I really like it!

Well, pics of architectures, cars etc are nice, but without any humans lifeless.
But the humans only look nice, when they have a skin which looks realistic.

My try was to blend a bumpmapped phong with sss:

Bigger pic:
http://www.hoerbird.net/im1215571001.png

The face is the blended material, the torso is a textured phong without any bump. I used Poser V3 and some textures I found some years ago on renderosity.

Of course it is far away from realistic looking- the skin is too pale, the bump too strong, the sss to weak...

I have to experiment...

Regards
HHS

Green skin, hm...
The poster models will newer look real.

However here is another one.,
(phong+specular epidermis) + (diffuse+specular epidermis).

I'm fighting with too much oil right now :D

looks better than my proper skin SSS epidermis/dermis combos, but then again I haven't tried any of the newer Indigos :)
