is maxwell a better renderer?

General questions about Indigo, the scene format, rendering etc...

I think you have to notice that in indigo there is still no "build-in"/while rendering noise-reducing tool, at Maxwell, I don't know....

99% sure there isn't one in Maxwell either.

lol this is turning into quite a heated topic :P relly nice tests there jurasek. the reflection in the maxwelll render does not look at all accurate, i agree, there was porbably something buggy with the export.

some imba renders there neepneep, keep em coming. please. think u should submit that stuff under technical. surprised that ono hasnt jumped onto it already. he must be up to his head in paper work ;)

greetz guys

I think the topic should be... "is better Maxwell or Indigo for THIS NEED?".
Matsta what you need to do?

What modeller you usually use?

the maxwell output image doesn't have the correct aspect ratio. the wheels aren't round

... do you have a nice image wire-render to say this?

there's not very much to add, but referring what you say about the two galleries, the difference between them in my opinion is that indigo is mostly used by hobbyst, and we like StompinTom said we have other jobs (well, i'm a student), and maybe we dont have so much experience as a guy who lives from it's work(and i am not saying that a hobbyst has not the same level of a professional)... i think maybe that's the difference, i can bet you that indigo in a experienced maxwell user, the results would be the same, or even better...

that's it...

I dont think that the 15 minute renders are relevant. I would like to see which render first converges under a certain noise value that is Low. :)

:) IMHO most user friendly unbiased engine is fprime but is only for LW - almost realtime preview (best feature) and pretty good speed but lack off options/controll. Maybe with new Blender handles will be possibility to build some kind off fprime's window with power off Indigo

Agree ... might be a good idea to use Maxwell 1.1 too

@ricky

i cant actaully specify since my exploration with 3d is quite limited, havent really explored many different modelers/renderers. i think a general view is what i "need" its not about what i want to do per say, more about what other are capable of doing with the given tools (being indigo or maxwell)

just doing some shader test renders atm might post them here for shits and giggles ;)

o and jurasek i also noticed the squished tyres in the maxwell render. maybe u squished it a bit by mistake, not that that would have any effect on the quality of the render. could u submit the model?

thanks
mat

EDIT: here is a simple light test thingy i just set up. some nice "prograssive shading. really love indigo's speed/quality ratio. really outstanding. enjoy

I would also do some testscenes if only there was an exporter from blender to maxwell :(

I'm glad Maxwell doesn't support Blender and I hope it stays that way.
