lens-sensor distance....

Hmm i remeber there was a thread about this ...in the old forum..

I'm cleaning up my exporter an i want to fix focal length ...

Anyone has an idea where to find it ??

cheers

Hi u3dreal...

imho should be SensorWidth/LensSensorDist = tan(ApertureAngle/2)
where ApertureAngle stands for HorizontalApertureAngle

Hope it helps.

PS...in your exporter normals are computed per vertex on embedded meshes? Thx, Riccardo.

Hi,

For a thin lens you can apply the thin lens formula:

1/s + 1/d = 1/f

where

s = focus distance
d = sensor lens dist
f = focal length

solving for d:

d = f * s /(f + s) ,

which is approx

d = f

if s >> f.

hth,
