Post by rikokun » Fri Mar 23, 2007 11:23 pm

Hi. Just wanted to ask, is there a way to render 360 degrees panorama image in indigo?

It depends in what format you want the render.

If you want it latlong I would suggest that you use the method SmartDen proposed.

Ok, so now we have rejected the idea of rendering one panoramic image. Instead i woul'd need 6 pictures to map on cube. BUT i need to have field of view exactly 90 degrees. Is there a way to set up this? Didn't find it in xlm.

If you use blender, there is a nice script for exactly that purpoase that does all the work for you:

Don't know how much you will have to tweak it to work with the exporter or blendigo, though...

I somewhere read a formula to calculate the stuff...
Don't know, where, though...

I think, it was something like " 2*tan(value)=angle "

Hey that topic is interesting, producing hdr panoramics would be cooooool !!!

I think once you have found the right values they will apply for anyone anytime :D

Why don't you just use a mirrored ball? That's the same thing they use for hdr-probes...

Would be really easy in indigo as there is the sphere primitive: Just model a sphere and use Ag.nk as the material with a really high exponent. Then place it in the middle of the scene and render the sphere. If you want a latlong panorama you can always use hdrshop for conversion...

Placing a mirrored ball in a scene is actually something I would like to try in my beach house. No matter what I do the scene has over five hundred objects in it and I can't find a good camera angle to get everything I want!! :)

Thanks for the tip mrCarnivore. I just might try this......some day.

mrCarnivore> Thanks. I know about this plugin already but it doesn't solve my prob. You need to set the camera lens to 16 (90 degrees) in blender first and i don't know if that aply for camera in indigo as well...

As for mirror ball, that's no use either, cause now i need 6 pictures without panoramic deformation for our game engine. As for now, i'm learning radiosity in blender, cause i can achive nice results with it, but indigo is indigo ^_^
