Gpu Usage Limit

Post by kscore » Fri Dec 15, 2017 11:21 pm

Hey, Is it possible to limit the Gpu Renderer to 90% Usage? When I am rendering, my GPU Load is at 100% and surfing on the Internet or watching Videos or working on other programs, everything is slower.

edit: I deactivated the "gpu hardware acceleration" in google chrome and now it is faster, but maybe there is a diffrent way to do it, because other processes on desktop are not so smooth.

Sorry, can't really tell you if it's possible or if we are going to implement it.

Do you have an integrated graphics on you CPU? You could plug your primary screen into the motherboard (or even better a secondary screen) and browse on that.

No, I have no integrated Graphics, maybe in future I will use a second GPU. I tried the Redshift Renderer and there is this implemented, very interesting.

Not really, it says "Percentage of GPU memory to use". That will only limit the maximum amount of memory that can be used on your GPU.

What causes your computer to feel slower is the fact that Indigo does so much work on your GPU that your OS doesn't get much of a chance of drawing your desktop.

Oh, sry for misunderstanding it ! When I am rendering with CPU in Indigo I can choose the number of Threads, thats great. But I am mostly using the GPU in most of my scenes. it is much faster :)
