GPU Acceleration for ATI Radeon 4570?
GPU Acceleration for ATI Radeon 4570?
Hi all,
Indigo RT tells me "no supported GPUs found". Yet I have a ATI Radeon 4570 card. Which cards does Indigo RT support and why not mine?
Win7 32 bit, P7350, 4GB RAM (3.0 Accessible)

Re: GPU Acceleration for ATI Radeon 4570?
the ATI 4xxx branch only supports OpenCL 1.0.
Afaik Indigo needs OpenCL 1.1 capable Hardware...

Ah.. of course, the ol' planned obsolescence scheme... WTF?!
Re: GPU Acceleration for ATI Radeon 4570?
Afaik Glare tried to get OpenCL 1.0 compatibility into Indigo too, but having smooth running OpenCL 1.1 done was quite some pain and it still isn't working flawlessly for all systems afaik...
Anyway, if there is some OpenCL 1.0 compatibility planned only Glare them self can tell you!
Regarding my tests with Luxmark with my overclocked 4870 and my AMD 1090T I gained + 30% samples with GPU enabled. Regrading extra Energy consumption this wasn't that big gain and your GPU would suck even more...
No idea how well this results can be transfered to Indigo anyway

Hi rhizome, you can have some lecture on the topic here.
obsolete asset
Re: GPU Acceleration for ATI Radeon 4570?
That GPU architecture is over 3 years old already (bearing in mind that GPU development happens at 3x CPU development speed), and physically lacks the required memory (shared memory) in order for it to efficiently support GPU computing.rhizome wrote:Ah.. of course, the ol' planned obsolescence scheme... It's not that we planned any kind of obsolescence three years before we even released the software that uses it...
Re: GPU Acceleration for ATI Radeon 4570?
Point taken. I'm not on the bleeding edge of laptops, I proudly admit
It just irks me that my pc just misses inclusion by 0.1 OpenCL!

Thanks, CTZn, I will have a look.CTZn wrote:Hi rhizome, you can have some lecture on the topic here.

You are welcome, but in this regard lycium told you here the essential.

Yes & no: 1/10th behind the current standard is eons admittedly, but it's also like missing a good sale by one day.CTZn wrote:You are welcome, but in this regard lycium told you here the essential.

Re: GPU Acceleration for ATI Radeon 4570?
The (extended) sale ended on the 15th, but we forgot to close the sale on the weekend
Re: GPU Acceleration for ATI Radeon 4570?
Yer killin' me! I got so entranced with the IndigoRT demo results I didn't notice the extension... ugh.
