LuxRender2.org is here ;-)
indigo is free, it's sdk costs money. thus indigo is not the product, the sdk is. lux doesnt have an sdk for connecting with software and thus it is not really a competitor. plus, the use of one does not prevent the use of the other, i often use open source software and it's competitors in my stuff.

Radiance is the creator of this site - the forums, etc.WytRaven wrote:Am I the only one here that thinks it's somewhat bad form to promote a direct competitor to a product (with possible comercial aspirations) within it's own forums...? Sorry Radiance, you are obviously well know and well liked around here but I think this is straight up rude.
He obviously got permission from Ono, as well.
It *could* have been rude, but it's not
It was not meant to be a personal attack Radiance.
I think we must simply agree to dissagree on this point. I do however, partially agree your point about the API not being a direct threat.
Ono has given his blessing so my objection to this thread is really of no matter. Additionally my objection to the thread is in no way an objection to Lux itself nor an attempt to invalidate your efforts.

Hi guys !
I see the first question arising is 'why another one' ; for me the answer is short : because it's free software (http://www.fsf.org/licensing/essays/free-sw.html). Knaxknarke, you made a good argumented post, we would like to use it in Lux's FAQ : are you ok with that ?
Greetz, and long life to all unbiased renderers

Thanks, got a bit rambling about everything - but well monitoring technical development of 3d rendering is part of my job (also it's more focused on real-time stuff).jromang wrote:Knaxknarke, you made a good argumented post, we would like to use it in Lux's FAQ : are you ok with that ?
Surely you can use comments of what I wrote in the Lux FAQ. I would be honored
