I never tried to overclock anything...
Do you need to overclock all cores once, or do you just overclock one thing and it affects all the cores?

With that cooling, the danger of overclocking-issues, is minimal, I guess...

EXACTLY...Kram1032...with this cooling system i minimize the risk of overhead....and i dont have overvoltage the cpu....only the multiplier :)
and the 3,2ghz is not too much....some people have reack the quad to 4.2ghz! but i never try this frequencies

the risk in overclockin (the way he does!) is overheating... nothing else...
so keep on rocking kosmo ^^

Psh, quad core. You're such a noob. :P You need to get yourself one of these: OCTUPLE CORE MAC PRO

*says the man with a single core CPU*... :(

Overclocking will for sure increase temperatures that's why he has a water cooling system, so it's really not much of a risk as long as you keep an eye on that temperature. Silicon melts I believe at 90°C, processors are made out of that. Still 90°C is quite a high temp, manufacturers tell you 70°C is a risk, but I believe you can still go a little up above that before causing physicall damage or or taking away processor life. They say you can decrease like 50 years of life above 70°C, I would like to see someone save their PC 50 years from now and keep rendering with indigo......

On my old AMD XP 2200+ I almost always had 75-82 °C while gaming or rendering. And it worked like that for a few years. And it still keeps on running ín my second PC now...

Wonder if there's a vw beetle inside. ;-) (the old one of course)

I have xp2800 and it crashes when it's over 75 °C.
It runs 52 °C when idle.

I guess the temp sensor in the mb is broken. There's no other explanation for it, I guess... Seems that the sensor has some kind of offset that is not plausible.

52°C for idle time is quite high, that's pretty much what mine was at when I lived in Yucatan Peninsula (Caribbean Weather), the ambient temperature there was aprox. 42~45°C, is it that hot where you live? If not, I'd do a checkup on that PC before  BOOM

If my temp sensor is not broken, the idle temp of my old processor was 65 °C.... :-P

Nope. It's quite cold here. 10 °C is a common outside temp. Highest it goes is about 30 °C in summer, but this is rare (I live in Estonia..it's next to Russia and Finland is over the see).
I think the main reason why it is so hot is because my box is very small. Everything is side by side. 400w power supply is right next to cpu cooler and 3 hdd's are right there too. I've hade tons of reboots while rendering with Indigo. I gues it runs quite near the edge. The time has come to get a 21 century worstation i guess 8)

A board wich sockets will be out of date soon :P Man I can't buy a board for my two xeons anymore, welcome in you-bought-previous-technology-you're-gwztrkzed-up-we've-planned-next-ten-ones-land

Different cores can stand different temperatures before melting or dying, ranging from 60+°C up to 102°C or so... quickly found that table, found another one few months ago wich was more accurate, and longer also...
