I'm not sure but I'M pretty ssure Oblivions forests were somewhat generated on the go. I remember watching a video and I'm pretty sure the guy said the forests were never the same each time you came back because they were generated in a different fashion. I do believe though that the actual ground stayed the same, it's just the trees that moved around, but its still a start.

Impressive, but aren't the plants features a little big? I mean, the become visible even when you are hundreds of miles above the surface.CoolColJ wrote:a new alpha vid - pretty impressive seamless real time universe and landscap tech

Being a fairly active contributor/organiser for this game, I might be able to address the concern that features are too big:
First, these features might be a bit too big for earth, but in this case this isn't earth, its just one of many procedurally generated planets, where gravity could be lower or tectonic activity could result in larger mountains.
Second, this is still in pre-alpha stage, so nothing is set in stone. Whilst not a trivial matter, the code used to generate these mountains is likely to be tweeked further to produce more realistic mountains.
Thrid, its a freeking elite remake where you can seamlessly travel from space to the surface of a planet!!! What more could you want!!??!?!?
