Cool! How are you exporting scenes to Mitsuba? Only found the older exporter and haven't tested it yet... Does it work?CoolColJ wrote:Veach MLT - 10min render - only source of light is indirect lighting through windows and geometry seams![]()
No exit portals or anything hereWanted to see how many samples to reach a clean shadows with Veach MLT
8192 samples here - 30 min render

Re: Mitsuba renderer
I'm just importing OBJ scenes, it will also load DAE and another formatStompinTom wrote:Cool! How are you exporting scenes to Mitsuba? Only found the older exporter and haven't tested it yet... And I guess you can edit the saved XML scene files, after importing, like old schoool Indigo
Re: Mitsuba renderer
Ok I export a OBJ-File.
But does a OBJ-File also contain the lightsources from my Blenderfile ?
And how do I have to setup Materials, Sunlight,... ?
Do I have to edit an *.xml file ?
BTW: It also supports instancing geometry, see here: http://www.mitsuba-renderer.org/devblog/
Did anyone did some heavy test with complex Interiorscenes yet ?
Kind regards
Alain

You might be better off exporting Collada 1.4 .DAE file formatAlain wrote:Ok I export a OBJ-File.

But there is a Blender exporter of sorts done by someone. Mitsuba will convert it to the new scene format if it's old in any case.
http://bartoszstyperek.wordpress.com/20 ... -exporter/
I don't know Blender well enough to get it to work, where to put it, which of the million versions of Blender to use etc etc
Re: Mitsuba renderer
Mitsuba was updated again, better .OBJ and .DAE import.
I finally got this scene into it, but there are some shading errors I need to sort out
I hand edited the water in.
12 min or so render! Very quick on the caustics - by far the fastest unbiased renderer in this aspect
Manifold Perturbation is like magic for this, Indigo needs this!
I've done this scene in Indigo and Luxrender and it's pretty slow. 2 objects sitting in water
15-20mins in Mitsuba
