[?BUG?] v0.6t6 : bidir meshlight differences

Post by zuegs » Tue Oct 31, 2006 8:44 pm

I moved this topic from v06t6 thread ...

Hi Nick,
I've done some tests with v0.6t6 and found following issue. The following scene contains 5 boxes with blackbody lights inside (from dark to bright)and 1 box with a rgb-emmiter (below).
When I render this scene with BI-DIR I can see some diagonal patterns on the light sources??? This does not happen when BI-DIR is disabled.

Also the energie emitted by meshlights is not the same in bi-dir and uni-dir. I have scenes where i have balanced different light sources for bi-dir, when i render them without bi-dir the light balance does change (some are too strong, others too dark  :? )

Hi Nick,
what do you think? Is this a normal pattern noise for bi-dir or is there still something strange with bi-dir in v0.6t6 alias v0.6final? :?:

Well.. if the noise clears up into a constant colour, I wouldn't worry about it.
MLT can cause streaky noise patterns sometimes, that might be it.
