Crash Indigo 0.8 stable

Post by Alain » Thu Aug 23, 2007 11:49 pm

Hello
I'm very new to Indigo and just followed the german basic tuturial for cindigo.
I installed the exporter 0.8.2 in cinema 4d 9.102.
I followed the instructions of the tutorial.
But if I load the exported igs- file into indigo 0.8 it crashes.

Here is the text of indigo monitor:
scene file path: 'C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Administrator\Desktop\Cindigo_Test_002.igs'
Using working directory path 'C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Administrator\Desktop'.

You use wrong Indigo version ;) Use latest version!
I think your exporter is not compatible with indigo version you have installed. You better ask in Cinema sub-forum what are you doing wrong! Good luck!

BTW Welcome!

That seems to happen to me on my desktop computer. My laptop is fine though so it could have to do with ram amounts and cpu speeds. My 1gb ram 1.6 ghz dual core laptop runs indigo fine, while my 768mb ram 1.1ghz athlon xp desktop crashes on any indigo version above 0.8

I'm running it on a MacBookPro, 2Ghz Intel Core Duo, 1GB RAM, using Parallels to run Windows XP.

Does anybody have bad expireance with using it under Parallels ?

I could try it on Boot Camp.

Alain

I just saw that Parallels uses only 512MB RAM... that could be the reason, hold on I just try it ;-)

jep, could an RAM issue.

The Cindigo Exporter is still in a Beta status check here for a Buglist.
You'll maybe need to hand edit your exported igs a bit...

welcome to Indigo :)

++edit++
best to use latest cindigo and indigo versions!

I see you use C4D exporter

make sure all objects are editable - that always gets me
it crashes when it caches the mesh or rebuilds the tree as in your case

also check the layers of objects, it's better not to layer em upon export

@CoolColJ
What do you mean with "editable objects" ? You mean polygone objects in Cinema 4d ? Is it better to use polygone or parametric objects ?

and

What do you mean with "layer of objects" ? You mean the objects treestructure in cinema 4d ?

this happens when you export objects wich are not editable or null-objects with an object tag.

thats a cindigo bug. will fix that

@fused
I made all objects editable and no null-objects have an object-tag (see screenshot below).

@sciman
tried it under Boot Camp (show me 0.98 GB RAM) an it didn't work as well.

use plane instead of floor. it has to be a parametric plane, so not a polyonobecjt. dont use an objecttag.

will change that in the next version. its a relic from the beginning :)

@fused
does not work if I use a parametric plane without an object tag.
there comes another errormessage as you can see below.

what is "bidirectional" on a plane ? and what is a "finite area mesh" in cinema ?
can anyone translate that in german ? ;-)

I converted the plane in a polygonobject with an object tag an that worked.

@fused
will it be possible or is it already to test complex cinema scenes as you can see below with sub and subsub- objects ?

finite is the oposit of infinite (endlich und unendlich)
Bi Dir is a render setting for Indigo it should speed up interior and Caustic renderings a bit (but it doesnt woork with an infinite floor!),
deactivate it if you really need an infinite floor using the indigo advanced settings in the Cindigo render tag.

btw: nice interrior!
