not that high on the priority list, but itd be cool to have the option of turning off the camera model and replacing it with just the film/CCD (specifying its size, maybe even shape) so that you can even model your own lenses/camera if you so wish. would also open the door for interesting "light painting" effects and such while staying physically correct.

Maybe would be enough, to just add a "shape" , an IOR-value absorbtion, chromatic dispertion....
For more control, but you're right, I'd give it a low prior, too
