Interactive IndigoToneMapper during the render(ing-ita)

Post by filippo » Mon Mar 19, 2007 7:47 am

is it possible add indigotonemapper to indigo ?
as multilight in maxwell?
if it possible, and if it posible chage parameter during the rendering the time to optimizer the render they would decrease..
sorry for my poor language
filippo

è possibile inserire indigotonrmapper all'interno di Indigo?
come il multilight di maxwell?
se fosse possibile e se si potesse cambiare i parametri durante il reder i tempi di ottimizazione diminuirebbero di molto.

It's possible, I will think about it some more after 0.7 test 6 is released.

When are you planning on 0.7 test 6 to be released? Will it have any new features or just bugfixes?

mrCarnivore:
test 6 will mostly be about the reintroduction of bidirectional path tracing/mlt.
Also it will have a new (simple) wxWindows GUI.
There may be some other bug fixes.

It will be released when it's finished. :)

Yes, the windowing code was Windows-specific, now it's cross platform.

Duke Nukem Forever Release Date ????

BiDir will be back :D :D :D :D (at least 100 :D more, but I thinnk, it's more like 100000000000000000000000000000000 :D)

When it's finished is ok, I know, it's a mess, to make BiDir working correctly, but can you about say the developement state?
Did you already do more than half of the work, or is it still completely unfunctional?

Try to give a percent scale :D

What is the advantage of Bidir to MLT? Isn't it just slower? :?

bidir can work with or without MLT.
bidir is usually faster than normal backwards path tracing, especially for interiors and caustics

EDIT:
for example: this first image is a ~10m rendering without bidir

And the second is a 6 minute rendering with bidir:

Not really...
I found some articles, where I there where some examples!

The single samples are a bit slower, but therefore, the image gets clear much faster ;)

So, it's slower, if you look at spp but faster if you look at the image quality :D

Just search through google "Bidirectional Raytracing"

@OnoSendai: WOW, the bidir really is much faster overall and results in a much cleaner or at least uniformly noisy image.

So to pick up the question from somebody else in another thread: How far along are you with the implementation?
Almost finished, barely started?

@ono: are those new renders(0.7t6) or the old ones(when you implemented bidir the first time)?

I thought it was in this thread but I couldn't find it any more. Guess I shouldn't do more than one thing at once... :D
