Hi there, this time with a suggestion about frame buffers.
It's about setting an id for every material and putting the objects with matching IDs on the same framebuffer.
It results that there is as much framebuffers as materials IDs (knowing that number of IDs is less or equal to number of materials).
That would be handy for logo creation, plus some compositing abilities...

Sounds quite similar to multilight...
I'm not sure if splitting up the scene by material makes sense like it does for lights however.
