[REQ] "Dynamic Network Rendering"

Post by Zom-B » Wed Aug 02, 2006 2:07 am

Hey Nick...

I thought about how cool "resume rendering" would be, and get the following Idea:

If resumable Rendering would be possible with Indigo, in theory,
joining a renderin prozess trough network schould be possible,
by getting all necessary files from the Host, and jump in by resuming!

I think this would allow us to share CPU Power very easy and flexible
join & leave "Community Rendering Projects" very easy!

So please Nick tell us your thoughts about this idea, I think this could
draw the Indigo Community together and make interesting Projects
possible like Postersize Renderings or super detailed Scenes like Radiance just shows us :D

Please everybody feel free to C&C !!!

Heya Zom-B,

actually you can jump in any network rendering if you've got access
to the scenedata and textures. Resuming from a point in network
rendering should be a problem because every machine is using it's
own seed number ...

It would be cool if a machine could save it's state and resume, ...
but I would avoid to get so mush data over the network to resume
a coop ...

I'm a bit tired right now so I can't think about this to much. :P :D ;)

ps.: Coop with Indigo is already pretty cool! :D :D :D

take care
