I think that the vignetting of the image, despite it reflects REAL light simulation throuh a camera lens, is indeed a side effect that everybody tries to eliminate in real pictures, when present.
Saying that, I think that vignetting should be an option (ok, default ON), not a fixed feature, so that it can easily removed where not needed.
For example I'm trying to build a cubemap for a panoramic view, but vignetting makes impossible to stitch images together.

Just to be clear my problem is: given an interior scene, I need to make a cube map of it (or a spherical projection) for viewing it inside PTviewer, like a QTVR image
I can work with an exporter or manipulate camera vectors, parameters and so on directly on the script...

Like pixie told - one workaround is to do it like they also do it in real life. Take a picture of a reflecting sphere.
