[REQ] - Option to control the phong exponent with a bitmap

Post by psor » Tue Nov 21, 2006 4:59 am

Heya Nick!

I would like to see this option so I can control the "roughness" with a bitmap
... would be cool. But maybe you're already focused on the shader implementation,
then I'll keep my mouth shut. 8)

If you are wondering what use this would have for me, well if I use a scratch
map then I would like to give the "scratches" more roughness. Until now, this
is not possible. As example my old WIP ... I would like to make the letters
more rough ... not only that I would like to texture the whole metal parts of
the knife with a roughness map. I hope I explained it good enough ... I've
got the flu so I'm not that clear in my mind. *LOL*

Example:

Note: When I think about it, I guess I can achieve a similar effect if I'd add
some noise to the bumpmap, I'll try that later ...

Thanx again for your marvelous work! ;o)

take care

The ability to mask any of the materials is something that indigo is missing, indeed.

We're all waiting, Nick.

I'll give you four dollars and seventeen cents. I swear! :)
