OMGWTF BBQ Pleaze help

Running 2 AV programs resident at the same time is a VERY bad idea. That said, for a person likely to pick up infections running scans individually with multiple AV programs should not cause any problems other than what zsouthboy already mentioned. I'm also with zsouthboy on not running anything at all, but I know what I'm doing and understand the risk involved.

Could bad or dying RAM cause this sort of issue? It seemed to resurface after GIMP crashed. The error is a little different, though

Something you can test quickly unsing this little tool.
Its not a perfect proof for bad RAM, but if it founds any Errors, a RAM issue is there for sure!

run memtest86. overnight.

some motherboards have it built into the bios nowadays, even.

Also, you said you've left your machine on for long periods. Try letting it rest overnight and try in the morning.

In my experience machines that are left on all the time become unreliable quicker than those that are shut down every night.
