[REQ] InfraRed & UltraViolet light

Post by arneoog » Fri Oct 20, 2006 2:14 am

Does indigo generate InfraRed and/or UltraViolet light?
I don't think so but that would be a really stylish feature! 8)
We could then creat neat night shots, and maybe xRay-ish effects :P

Anyway, I want new shaders (SSS, custom) more than this.. ..at first :)

Extending the range of frequencies simulated would slow down everything, so it's not a good idea, especially when 99% of the time such light is invisible :)

Ahh.. yeah, okay :)

I just think it's a cool thought 8)

<wave_length>720-60000000(nm)</wave_length> == InfraRed
<wave_length>380-720(nm)</wave_length> == Normal
<wave_length>10-380(nm)</wave_length> == UltraViolet
<wave_length>0.01-10(nm)</wave_length> == X-Ray

Maybe this is what will crush Maxwell and all the other renderers :wink: hehe

Anyway, it's you that decides :)

Hi, what is SSS I keep hearing it but have no idea. I did a google and wiki search before anyone flames me with "ever heard of google?"
"To be, or not to be" That is a question?

Sub Surface Scattering (SSS) is a kind of shader that makes the object light transparent.
Three good examples:

This effect is called Sub Surface Scattering (SSS)
