[REQ] Bump/Exponent map filtering

Post by CoolColJ » Wed Oct 03, 2007 10:33 am

some extra options for Bump/Exponent map filtering to soften/smooth/blend them out would be nice

maybe use the remaining A or C parameter for that? :)

would help converging quite a lot and reduce noisey/dotty caustics and reflections etc

Did you ever try to modify a and c in bumpmaps?
I didn't, but I guess, they're just working, as they ever work - just as the b value means more contrast.

A - contrast²
B - contrast^1
C - kills pure black (or if negative pure white) values, by linearly increasing values

:)

ABC are all used, CoolColJ :)

If your maps need filtering, filter them yourself.

thanks for that Kram, I didn't know that stuff :)

well non destructive filtering would be nice and easier to tweak when test rendering
