Suggestion: Save and load imaging presets
Hi there,
a friend of mine came up with this simple, but powerful idea:
saveable render settings, or render settings management.
Imagine you set everything up: tone-mapping, whitepoint, light layers and colors... and now you want to see quickly how it looks in another setup.
So wouldn't it be nice being able to save your complete imaging setup in the GUI, switch to a new one, save it and easy switch between them? Make changes and oversave them?
This would be soooo cool. And it would make Indigo much more productive.
What do you think?

Re: Suggestion: Save and load imaging presets
Good idea.
Useful even when you're doing test renders: I always play with colours, powers, camera profiles etc during a wip to find out what's the best setting. Then I usually WRITE (yes: paper-and-pencil.exe) all the parameters to be able to reproduce the same conditions in later renderings.
+1 to the request.

Yes this is one of the most important in indigo. Is boring all the time setup the same settings for example if you change a lot in light layers or in camera settings save pesets is important to save time.

I find myself wasting a lot of time changing light layer and camera settings in all of my renders.. If Indigo had a 'load preset' and 'save preset' it would be extremely helpful.

Yes, we have seen itzeitmeister wrote:*bump*
It was requested quite often and im actually very keen to implement this
Please don't expect it in 2.4 stable tho as we try to finally get the stable of the door.

Sure... take your time!
But please don't throw away the slip where you noticed it to be implemented!

I have a favorite setting I use almost every time. A specific camera model, iso and whitepoint, i'd like to be able to make this my default setting...

I don't know what modeling app you use and if this works in all apps, but in blender you can change exporter settings and save those as default with ctrl+u.droon wrote:+1

Re: Suggestion: Save and load imaging presets
Sure I could specify most of the settings in the camera tag; which has got some of these options.
But it would really safe a lot of time if these presets are being outsourced in some kind of new text file or whatever being referenced by the IGS...
However, I am still waiting for this. Cool improvement in usabilty; IMHO as important as render engine improvements.

Re: Suggestion: Save and load imaging presets
Well would you look at that. the camera tag is indeed pretty helpfull! especially because I use the same motherscene file for most of my renders.
