That's why you are working with a moster-fat Mac, isn't it? All about minimalism!
I love the image btw :)

Well when it comes down to it the mac pros and aluminium cinema displays are minimalist designs, which is the reason I love the look of them so much...current iMacs too :)

But anyway let's not divert from Zilla's nice fob-watch :) I really like the fact that you modeled the surface details rather than using a texture map.

Actually just realised it's not a fob-watch  well whatever it is I like it :)

Seems like a silly small thing but I really like the fine gold edges on the sunken seconds section and the tiny gold hour marks. Really like this design. I would hang this on my wall in a flash if it existed (It is a wall clock right? Did I get it correct this time :P)

Hey Zilla.... does your watch actually has a glass cover... because I miss some glassy reflactions here?!
Also the watch numbers couldmaybe use some minimal bump, and also some phong material via blend... maybe....

Anyway, looks nice! :)

No It's a pocket watch

And @ Zomb, I tried adding the glass but it was always black for some reason.. (Not a normals problem), so I just gave up on it.

And I can't do a bump map because there are no textures.

Sorry missed that.... in this case extrude the mesh a little bit.... but just a very, very little :)

The black Glass thing can be simple normal smoothing on hard edges... just try to subdiv the glass mucho grande, and the black should go away

Rendered at a higher resolution for use as my own background, thought i'd share.

Slightly noisier, but to be perfectly honest, I think it adds an element of realism. 8)

I agree. a little noise can help a render look much more photographic. ultra-clean renders tend to look a bit artificial too me. nice work.
