Rubik's cube

Post by alexmeyer » Sat Nov 10, 2007 4:47 pm

EDIT:

New version! I was bored, but didn't wanna start a whole new project, so I decided to make some changes to the rubik's cube I had been wanting to make. (Darkening the colors mostly... And a new camera angle.)

Nice modeling! :) Colours are a little 'hot' but that's me just being picky :P

Wow, fantastic.

Only the texture of the surface of the table, it seems too plastic and a little unreal.

Looks good, but yes, wood looks like that cheap laminated vinyl surface, unless that's what you wanted to achieve, then it's fine.

colour hints:
green only 0.5
blue 0.75
red 0.66666...
white greyish, like 0.8
yellow a bit less green (it's a warmer yellow)
orange should be about fine :) (maybe a tiny bit darker and less green...)

the table is missing a bumpmap or something like that, and has slightly too high IoR, I'd say, else, it's just fine :)

Great work of modelling :D How far is the animation? :)

Hey guys, thanks for all the feedback.

Wyt and Mark, yeah, some of the colors are fairly bright, might do another version with colors closer to my cube here.

Salva and joe (and mark), yeah, the table surface is kinda shiny, and yes it does look like that "cheap laminated vinyl*" stuff... I kinda liked the way it turned out, but I'll probably mess with that when I change the colors of the cube.

Mark, the new(er) version of the animation is coming along ok. I actually have it rendered out (yafray) and just need to do some post work I think. I'm actually kinda getting bored with this project... :P

*It actually looks exactly like a table at my dad's office. I realized that after I was done with it, and one of his coworkers was convinced it was a picture of a rubik's cube taken on that table... goodness I love Indigo...
